You learn something new everyday!

I was chatting to my Dad the other day and he was telling me that he had been to the gym that week and the lady there had told him that it can take up to six months for people to see results from their workouts.

My response was "six months" thats a long time and he said Yeah apparently your body basically goes into shock mode particularly if you haven't done anything for a while (like me) and it holds on to all the fat stores you have cause it thinks it will need it to keep up with the extra activity you are doing.

I was a little bit shocked at this but then thought about it and said is that why I always put on weight when I first start going to the gym rather than lose it. Probably was the answer I received.

I do lose centremetres after a while of going to the gym but never have I lost a lot of weight straight away. What I would like to know then is how do people stay motivated to go to the gym when they are not seeing any results. I can tell you that I will go all gung ho for a month and get my bum out of bed at 5am to do the classes. Which let me tell you is no easy thing. I do like my sleep. And then I will just stop going because I think what is the point!

Has this happened to you? If so how do you keep going? Or are you one of the lucky ones that lose the weight straight away?

A pleasant suprise...

So as you have probably noticed from the lack of posts that I have not been doing a lot lately to get this weight off. I have however, been focusing on more pressing health issues.

But I put my jeans on on Mothers day to wear out to breakfast and they did up. Yay! A couple of weeks before I had gone to put them on for a night out and they did not fit well at all. So I jumped on the scales and weighed myself and I had lost 0.5kg from what my weight was when I last stopped posting. Just to check it wasn't a trick I weighed myself again this morning and yep I still lost 0.5kg.

I have been working on cutting out some things from my diet though and not eating as much crap on the weekend which lets face it is my biggest down fall.

So with renewed motivation from this unexpected weightloss I went back to Curves last night and did the Zumba circuit and shook my ass to "Dont stop wiggle wiggle"

I have decided not to be so strict on myself though as I have a lot of weight to lose and I know I will not last this way so for starters I am just making some small changes and making sure I do at least half an hour excercise most days.

I'll be back soon I promise!!
